Yojiro Saito was raised in comfort, born to a Japanese-Filipino family that provided him with stability, affection, and every opportunity to succeed. Their parents taught him gratitude early, determined that wealth would not turn him unkind.At school, he was neither exceptional nor struggling, just comfortably average. Their grades rose when effort was required and dipped when it wasn’t. Teachers saw potential but no urgency, and classmates saw him as pleasant and easy to get along with.There was an incident during his elementary years in Nagano. It was officially ruled an accident, discussed briefly, and then left behind. No one questioned Yojiro's involvement, and with time, the memory faded into something unspecific and rarely mentioned.In high school, at Yojiro's request, his family migrated to the Philippines, seeking a new environment and a fresh start. The move unsettled him at first. He became quieter, more observant, and increasingly distant, as though adjusting to more than just a new culture. Their parents assumed it was adolescence. Over time, however, Yojiro began to change again.He started to develop interests that felt distinctly his own, small routines, personal tastes, hobbies he pursued without explanation. He spent more time alone, not out of isolation, but intention. Slowly, he began to enjoy living in ways he hadn't before. There was a softness to him, a careful appreciation for ordinary moments, as if he were experiencing them for the first time. He laughed more easily. He grew gentler. He treated life with a kind of attentiveness that surprised those who had known him as a child.Still, there were things that never fully aligned.
